We are a non-profit Organisation formed in April 2011. The
founder is paraplegic and wheelchair dependent. We work to assist disabled people with a physical, neurological, sensory Impairment or long term health condition.
We have adopted the social model of disability which recognises that disablement arises from the organisational, environmental and attitudinal barriers that society puts in the way of disabled people on top of their impairments.
We have two roles ,the first is to liaise with Local and National Government and Politicians to identify the problems and issues affecting our everyday lives, to assist in finding solutions to these issues. To campaign to ensure we enjoy the freedoms and rights set out in the Equality Act 2010 and the Welsh Government addendums 2011. To promote Equality of opportunities between disabled and non disabled people.
We promote Independent living to enable us to achieve our own goals and live our lives in the way we choose for ourselves
Our second role is to bring disabled people together socially through a range of activities and social events.
Often it seems we are a hidden part of our communities we seek to change the negative perceptions about disabled people . By uniting and engaging with others with similar experiences we can improve our circumstances and show that we have an important contribution to make in our communities
We are working with Ceredigion County Council as advisers on their Strategic Equality Plan. We are affiliated with,
Disability Rights UK.
C.A.V.O Ceredigion Association of Voluntary Organisations.
